Tailwaggers Terms & Privacy

The important stuff, without all the growling. 🐾

Last updated: August 26, 2026

We know Terms & Conditions aren't nearly as exciting as running an agility course. Still, they're important.

These Terms explain how membership, volunteering, WorkerBucks™, communications, privacy, and participation in Tailwaggers Learning Center activities work.

By joining Tailwaggers, volunteering, registering for an event, or using one of our Club programs, you're agreeing to the applicable terms below.

1. Membership 🐾

Who can join?

Good news: you don't even have to own a dog!

Membership is open to people who support Tailwaggers' mission and agree to follow our Bylaws, Club policies, rules, and standards of conduct.

Depending on your membership type, additional requirements may apply, including meeting participation, volunteering, sponsorship of new members, or other requirements established by our Bylaws or Board.

Membership dues & automatic renewal

Annual Tailwaggers membership is currently $35 per year and includes a Tailwaggers club shirt the first time you sign up. Because who doesn't need another dog shirt?

Membership dues may change in the future in accordance with the Club's Bylaws.

Membership automatically renews each year using the payment method on file unless you cancel automatic renewal before your renewal date.

You may cancel automatic renewal at any time before your next renewal is processed. Canceling stops future renewal charges but does not cancel or refund your current membership period.

Membership dues are non-refundable once paid, except for duplicate or erroneous charges or when otherwise approved by the Board.

Being an active member

Tailwaggers doesn't run on magic. It runs on volunteers. Lots and lots of wonderful volunteers.

Active members are expected to meet the participation requirements established by our Bylaws and Club policies, which may include attending Club meetings and completing volunteer service.

The good news? Eligible volunteer work may also earn WorkerBucks™, so helping the Club can help pay for your dog habit. We consider that a win-win.

Play nice. 🐶

We're dog people. We expect everyone to treat both people and dogs with respect.

Harassment, threats, bullying, abusive behavior, unsafe conduct, intentional disruption of Club activities, misuse of Club systems, or abusive or offensive treatment of a dog may result in disciplinary action.

Depending on the situation, that could include a warning, restriction, suspension, or termination of membership in accordance with our Bylaws and applicable Club policies.

Basically: Be kind. Be safe. Be a good human.

The Bylaws are still the boss

Tailwaggers is governed by its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws.

These Terms help explain how our programs and systems work, but they don't replace our governing documents. If these Terms and the Bylaws conflict on a Club governance issue, the Bylaws win that round.

2. Volunteering & WorkerBucks™ 💰

What are WorkerBucks™?

Volunteer. Earn credits. Use them for more dog stuff.

WorkerBucks™ are volunteer credits earned for completing eligible jobs at Tailwaggers trials, events, and activities.

The amount earned depends on the job, event, length of assignment, or other criteria established by Tailwaggers.

Approved WorkerBucks™ may be used toward eligible Tailwaggers expenses and, when available, with participating vendors according to the current WorkerBucks™ program rules.

WorkerBucks™ aren't actual bucks

Despite the name, please don't try to buy groceries with them. Publix will be confused.

WorkerBucks™:

  • Have no cash value

  • Cannot be exchanged for cash

  • Cannot be sold

  • May only be used according to current Tailwaggers rules

  • May not be transferred unless Tailwaggers specifically allows it under an approved policy or exception

WorkerBucks™ are volunteer rewards, not wages or currency.

However, if the value of WorkerBucks™ earned or redeemed by an individual ever reaches a level that creates a tax reporting obligation for Tailwaggers, the Club will comply with all applicable IRS reporting requirements.

Tailwaggers may request any information reasonably necessary to comply with applicable tax or reporting requirements.

Your digital WorkerBucks™ account

No more wondering whether that crumpled piece of paper in your agility bag is worth $5 or is a receipt from 2023.

Tailwaggers tracks WorkerBucks™ electronically.

Volunteers may receive a permanent Volunteer Number or account identifier used to track volunteer activity, earned credits, redemptions, adjustments, and expiration dates.

Credits may remain pending until your volunteer assignment is completed and verified. Only approved and available WorkerBucks™ may be redeemed.

Do WorkerBucks™ expire?

Yes. Even WorkerBucks™ eventually have to cross the rainbow bridge. 🌈

WorkerBucks™ are subject to the expiration rules in effect when they are earned, issued, or converted.

Your applicable expiration dates will be reflected in Tailwaggers' official WorkerBucks™ records when available.

Different rules may apply to legacy paper WorkerBucks™, converted credits, and newly earned digital WorkerBucks™.

What if my WorkerBucks™ balance looks wrong?

We're humans running a dog club. Occasionally, something may need correcting.

Contact us if you believe there's an error.

Tailwaggers may correct duplicate credits, recording errors, improper transactions, fraudulent activity, or other account discrepancies.

The official Tailwaggers WorkerBucks™ ledger is the final record if there is a difference between the system and an old email, screenshot, personal record, or other unofficial record.

If you sign up, please show up!

Our trials need volunteers to run smoothly.

When you reserve a volunteer position, we're counting on you. If something comes up, please cancel or contact us as soon as reasonably possible so another volunteer can take your spot.

WorkerBucks™ are earned for volunteer work actually completed and verified, not simply for signing up.

3. Dog Sports Have Risks 🐕💨

Please read this part carefully.

We love agility, but dogs running at full speed while humans try to keep up isn't exactly knitting.

Dog sports and dog-related activities involve inherent risks to people and animals.

These may include injuries involving physical activity, dogs, bites, falls, agility or training equipment, uneven surfaces, weather, vehicles, facilities, other participants, spectators, and other conditions associated with dog-sport activities.

By attending or participating in a Tailwaggers activity as a competitor, handler, volunteer, member, vendor, guest, spectator, or otherwise, you acknowledge these inherent risks and voluntarily assume the risks associated with your participation.

Your dog = your responsibility

You are responsible for the supervision, control, health, safety, and behavior of any dog in your care.

Dogs must be handled according to applicable Tailwaggers, venue, event, and sanctioning-organization rules.

Even if Fluffy swears the incident wasn't his fault.

Release of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, participants agree to release and hold harmless Tailwaggers Learning Center O.T.C. of South Florida, Inc., its officers, directors, volunteers, agents, event officials, and representatives from claims arising from participation in Club activities, except to the extent liability cannot legally be waived.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to waive a right or liability that cannot legally be waived.

Watch your stuff

Please keep track of your phones, keys, wallets, chairs, crates, leashes, toys, treats, and approximately 4,827 other things required to attend a dog trial.

Tailwaggers isn't responsible for lost, stolen, misplaced, or damaged personal property at Club activities.

4. Email Communications 📧

We promise not to email you every time somebody's dog gets a Q.

By providing your email address, you agree that Tailwaggers may contact you about things such as:

  • Membership and renewals

  • Club meetings

  • Trials and events

  • Volunteer opportunities

  • Fun runs and training opportunities

  • Seminars

  • WorkerBucks™

  • Receipts and confirmations

  • Other Tailwaggers-related information

You can unsubscribe from optional or promotional emails at any time.

Some emails are necessary to manage your membership, registration, volunteer assignment, payment, WorkerBucks™ account, safety information, or Club governance. Those communications may still be sent when necessary even if you've opted out of promotional emails.

5. Text Messages 📱🐾

Yes, we'll text you. No, we won't text you 47 times a day.

If Tailwaggers offers text-message communications, you will only be enrolled when you provide the required consent.

By affirmatively opting in, you agree to receive texts for the purposes disclosed when you sign up, which may include volunteer confirmations, reminders, cancellations, event information, or other Tailwaggers communications.

Agreeing to receive text messages is not required to purchase a membership, volunteer, or participate in Tailwaggers activities.

Simply giving us your phone number does not automatically enroll you in marketing text messages.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

When you provide your mobile number and opt in to receive text messages from Tailwaggers, your number and consent information may be shared only with service providers that help us deliver Club-related text messages, such as volunteer reminders, event updates, confirmations, cancellations, and other Tailwaggers communications.

Mobile numbers and SMS consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Tailwaggers does not sell mobile numbers or SMS consent information.

Your mobile information may be disclosed only as necessary to operate our messaging program, comply with applicable law, or protect the rights and safety of Tailwaggers and its members.

Want the texts to stop?

Reply STOP to opt out of that messaging program. You'll get one final confirmation text and nothing more.

We don't sell your information. Period.

Depending on how you interact with Tailwaggers, we may collect information such as your:

  • Name

  • Email

  • Phone number

  • Mailing address

  • Membership information

  • Volunteer Number

  • Volunteer history

  • WorkerBucks™ activity and balance

  • Dog information

  • Event registrations

  • Vendor information

  • Communication preferences

  • Payment transaction information

We use this information to actually run the Club, including memberships, volunteering, WorkerBucks™, events, payments, communications, records, and Club operations.

Payments

Payments may be processed through third-party payment processors such as Stripe.

When payment information is entered directly through our payment processor, Tailwaggers does not intentionally store your complete credit or debit card number on our own systems.

The payment provider may have its own terms and privacy practices.

Who might receive your information?

Tailwaggers does not sell your personal information.

We may share information when reasonably necessary with Club officers, authorized volunteers, trial officials, event coordinators, venues, sanctioning organizations, payment processors, technology providers, approved WorkerBucks™ vendors, insurers, professional advisers, or others necessary to operate Club activities.

We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect Tailwaggers, our members, volunteers, participants, dogs, or others.

In other words: we use your information to run the Club, not to turn your inbox into a dog-food commercial.

How long do we keep information?

Some records need to stick around longer than others.

Tailwaggers keeps personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for memberships, WorkerBucks™, volunteer records, financial records, Club governance, events, legal obligations, insurance, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and other legitimate Club purposes.

Need something corrected?

If your information is incorrect, contact us and we'll make a reasonable effort to correct it.

You may also request deletion of personal information. Some information may need to be retained for legal, financial, governance, safety, WorkerBucks™, fraud-prevention, or other legitimate Club purposes.

Junior members

Tailwaggers welcomes junior members!

Children under 13 should not independently provide personal information through Tailwaggers' website or online systems.

Information concerning a child under 13 should be submitted by, or with the involvement and consent of, a parent or legal guardian.

7. Smile! You Might Be in a Photo 📸🐕

Let's face it. At a dog event, we're mostly photographing the dogs anyway.

Tailwaggers activities may be photographed or recorded for Club communications, event coverage, social media, our website, historical records, and promotion of Tailwaggers and dog sports.

By attending an event, you understand that incidental photographs or video may be taken in areas where event photography is occurring.

When appropriate, Tailwaggers will make reasonable efforts to honor requests concerning the use of identifiable individual photographs, particularly those involving minors.

8. Third-Party Websites & Services

Sometimes we send you somewhere else on the internet.

Tailwaggers may use or link to third-party registration systems, payment processors, sanctioning organizations, social media platforms, vendors, and other services.

Those organizations operate independently and may have their own terms and privacy policies. Tailwaggers isn't responsible for the privacy practices, availability, security, or content of independently operated third-party services.

9. Things Change 🐾

Dog agility changes. Technology changes. Club programs change. Sometimes the rules need to change too.

Tailwaggers may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in Club programs, technology, legal requirements, or operating practices.

The "Last updated" date at the top tells you when this page was most recently revised.

When appropriate, significant changes may also be communicated through email, our website, or another official Tailwaggers communication method.
